Who RUN the WORLD? GIRLS!!!!!!

Not only is this true but it is a proven fact; well maybe not but women have a come along way. Many factors contribute to this new found feminist type of woman!  Woman now understand that they can run the world, a household and more. This new idea of womanhood stems from this formation of new digital media.  New digital media consists of more than just a hashtag but new action via social media.

Social Media gives you this false idea of what being a feminist is; it opens up a door to a very important issue sex equality but not accurately.  Media is a double edged sword because what you see on the internet is not always factual or evident. The viral movement is stemmed from aimless tweets , Facebook posts and Instagram pictures. We forget about the women suffrage movement that ensured the right to vote, equal pay requests and many other important issues.

Um this is not feminism…New-Feminism

Beyonce touched on the issue with her new album in one of her songs flawless which is women empowerment and owning your womanly powers. The song flawless address a couple of things that we as women face as young girls.

Nigerian Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls, ‘You can have ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful, but not too successful. Otherwise you will threaten the man.’ Because I am female, I am expected to aspire to marriage. I am expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is the most important. Now marriage can be a source of joy and love and mutual support. But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage and we don’t teach boys the same? We raise girls to see each other as competitors – not for jobs or for accomplishments, which I think can be a good thing, but for the attention of men. We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings in the way that boys are. Feminist: the person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes.

Beyonce makes us realize that everyone attributes to you being a womb and that it is ok to just be that. Beyonce is a woman that owns the world and still struggled with finding her place; don’t you find comfort in that? I do Beyonce is a beast; a feminist beast.

She just did it the right way…

  1. I agree with you and I have always thought that the greatest mistake in raising girls was to tell them the Charmin prince story…there is not a male version for that! There is a huge amount of misogyny in this world: just think about a date and how women get dressed and how men do….educational reason can be ascribed to this phenomenon, but also women should start to self motivate themselves in order to make a change

  2. First of all, when I saw this title I KNEW who wrote this blog! LOL
Second, I think that Beyonce is a fine example of an unstoppable female who is fieriness, and is a girl who’ll have both the oyster and the world. Yet, I have been noticing that her videos are becoming more focused on sexualizing and objectifying her own self. I also feel like I am repeatedly invited to participate in a private striptease she is performing for her husband. Yet I am, obviously, not her husband, but one out of millions flies on the wall who are being sold this strip show.

  3. I mean I obviously love this. And I think Beyonce is the ultimate feminist. A lot of people criticize her for being overly sexual or too superficial, but she is competing with (and winning against) men in the music industry on her own terms. Nothing more feminist than that.
