Worms in Apple

Apple seems to be infested with worms. Just a month after the nude celebrity photos leaked, Apple is already dealing with another controversy on their hands on the other side of the globe. According to this article from AdWeek, Apple users in China tumblr_mzdbkaRymV1rjqnnfo1_500have downloaded around 400 “infected apps 350,000 times” which equates to a shit ton of phones with viruses, which is definitely not good for Apple who is still trying to clean up their image after everyone and their mother has seen Jennifer Lawrence’s naked image.

I think what bums me out the most about all of this is that in my brain, I’m thinking, “wow, maybe my information isn’t safe with Apple, maybe I should switch over to another phone or computer,” but then my heart screams out, “NO!” because I love Apple products and don’t want to ever cheat on this relationship we have going. Its interesting to me that Apple is now under attack from a virus, when I remember growing up, the reason I thought Apple was so great was because it seemed like every computer except Apple got viruses. I supposed phones are a different story.apple-eats-worm-31819-569

The thing is that I don’t believe Apple could really do anything at this point to change Apple consumers’ minds about their products. Dozens of women’s security and intimacy breached? Buy the new iPhone 6. Thousands of people in China phones become infected with a virus that is capable of stealing a variety of information? Patiently wait until the iPhone 7 comes out in two years. Even though there is harsh criticism of Apple, I will be amazed if the day ever comes when devoted iPhonees make the switch over the Samsung Galaxy, or whatever other phone is a major competitor nowadays (I frankly have no idea).

Do you think it would be a good idea for Apple to make some type of ad-announcement to try to apologize for their wrongdoings?   Or should they keep on just showing how awesome the movie editing capabilities are on the iPhone 6?

Do you think that people, if these type of security issues keep arising, will switch from iPhone to something else?

Also, do you think that privacy with our data on our phones is going to become a bigger problem in the world? Why or why not?

I think Apple could use a good PR agency at this point in order to reinstate customers trust etc. And yes they need to apologize and quit denying it. Steve Jobs is probably rolling around in his grave with anger right now. (lol)
Do you think that people, if these type of security issues keep arising, will switch from iPhone to something else? I think it is definitely a possibility but regardless there are some people that would just never make the switch because other operating systems are just too different. I don’t know if I would ever switch, I really hate the androids and all those other phones. I’ve had an iPhone since they released the very first model so it’s what i’m used to.
Also, do you think that privacy with our data on our phones is going to become a bigger problem in the world? Why or why not? I think that is also a possibility, because people will always try to find loopholes or cracks in the systems in order to get what they want. It’s just how human nature is – there will always be someone out there who is evil or who will try to take shortcuts etc.

  2. Apple should absolutely issue some kind of apology or statement about the security issues they’ve been having. It is always good for a company to be accountable for any problems they’ve created, and these recent security breaches are definitely a problem. I doubt that many people will switch from iPhone to something else, Apple is just too popular to lose a huge chunk of business. I do think that privacy for the data on our phones is going to continue to be an issue. There is so much important financial information-credit card numbers etc- stored in our phones. Hackers will constantly try to figure out ways to steal that data. Definitely a scary issue.

  3. Wow i am surprised at the fact that Apple products can be infected by viruses. I have always thought that Apple has the safest products on earth! Technology is advancing and now or later, people will make virus that attack every technology including Apple. I think Apple has to step up in their defense system so that they don’t lose trust from the consumers.

    • I am still shocked at how many people have EVER thought that Apple was just this super safe ecosystem. Anything can be breached if given enough time or reason. The reason PCs are so virus and malware laden is because MOST of the world uses them for personal and business use. If I were a hacker, I’d rather attack a PC because there’s more of them with more information in general on them worldwide.

Macs are now becoming more mainstream whereas they used to be a niche and a rarity. You’ll start seeing hackers attacking Mac and iOS more and more now since so many people think they are safe and use them in greater numbers now. Welcome to the world of the internet, Mac people!
